As we look forward to the 2022/23 season, we hope to continue and build on the successes of the previous campaign. Here are the men that'll lead the charge in our respective leagues!
Toolstation Western League - Dean Cardew
Double winning manager Cardew returns for another season at the helm of the first team. A main stay at the Football Club for a number of years now, we're pleased that Dean will lead us into our first Western League campaign. The core of the squad remain with notably Captain John Heveran retiring and Callum O'Brien rejoining Saltash United. With Elliot Crawford, Jake Smith, Josh McCabe, Jamie Bass, Ryan Smith and Sam Cox arriving, Dean has ensured that he strives to improve the squad.
Cardew - "Very excited for the Club to be playing Western League football for the first time in its history. After the success of last season, we’ve earned the right to be there and looking forward to the challenge."
St Piran League - Neil Mansfield
After a 5th placed finish last time out, Mansfield moves into the manager role for the new season. Looking to build on a successful end to the previous year, Neil is pleased to have retained the majority of the playing squad whilst making some exciting new additions.
Mansfield - "I’m really pleased that the bulk of the squad from past couple of years have committed to another season at The Mill, despite offers from Clubs at a higher level in both Devon and Cornwall. In addition, there have been some really exciting players coming in during the off-season and they have settled into the group really well. I’m very much looking for to what this group can achieve."
East Cornwall Premier League - Callum Bays
Treble winning manager Bays will look to lead another charge in the ECPL. What proved to be the most successful season for the 3rds in 10+ years, Callum has managed to retain the players that helped it happen. Additional success on top of the trophies is the production of players for the TWL and SPL sides and that has been evident over his tenure.
Bays - “Looking forward to getting the squad back together to test ourselves again. After last season’s treble success it’s arguably a tougher challenge this year as we’ll be everyone’s scalp.”
Plymouth & West District League - Max Greenham
Greenham took control of the P&WD Development side just after Christmas last season. With the Club vision of providing a pathway for Torpoint U18's he has done just that but extending the invitation for all to sign on for his side. Working closely with the ECPL, he has ensured the progression of his players at the earliest opportunity.
Greenham - "I’m really excited for my first full season in charge. We’ve managed to hold onto most of the main core of the squad from last season and bought in a few quality additions. We’ve had a good preseason so far which should set us in good stead for many of the players’ second season in men's football. The season ahead has the foundations to be a successful one in terms of player progression and as a team and I can’t wait for it to get underway."
Football Coordinator - Luke Gibbons
Luke Gibbons continues in his role at our Football Coordinator.
Gibbons - "After such an incredible season throughout the Club last year, we must remain focused to deliver results across all sides whilst providing a pathway in to Senior football for our TAFC Youth. I'm please to have Dean, Neil, Callum and Max on board to take us into this new season. The off-season proves a challenging time as through success we have the battle to retain not only our players but our respective managers."
