Torpoint Athletic moved up to sixth place in the league table after four second half goals from a Ryan Richards clinical hat-trick and Ryan Smith also finding the net with the first goal of the match, to give the home fans ‘Derby Delight’, with a bumper Derby Day crowd of 439.

In the first half, a well organised Millbrook kept the home side at bay with some good defending, even though the hosts did come close on a few occasions.
The match was only three minutes old when a Josh Pope free kick out on the far right for Torpoint found Sam Hillson in the area for his header to by parried by visiting ‘keeper Jamie Dudley, the loose ball fell to Ryan Smith, but he saw his effort go wide of the post. Three minutes later, another free kick by Josh Pope was well saved by Dudley and a couple of minutes later, a good cross in found Pope to see his effort go just over the bar from 15 yards. On the 25th minute, a good ball into the area found Torpoint’s Ryan Smith to see his effort parried by Dudley, the loose ball fell to Gary Hird, to see his effort go wide. Just past the half hour mark, good build up play by the host’s Rory Simmons who sent a ball into to Gary Hird, who saw his effort go over the cross bar. With five minutes remaining of the first half, the hosts were making their intentions known to their visitors when a long ball by home ‘keeper Jack Dixon, found Gary Hird breaking clear, he was one on one with the visiting keeper, but Dudley blocked Hird’s effort well. In the final two minutes of the half, a good ball in by Torpoint’s Josh Pope found Ryan Richards, who turned on sixpence and shot well from the edge of the area, his effort was well saved by Dudley.

The second half was only a minute old when Ryan Smith sent in a great ball to Ryan Richards, he controlled the ball well in a crowded area, for his shot from 15 yards, rebounded off the post. Then three minutes later a free kick by Richards from 25 yards, scuffs the bottom of the post.
On the 53rd minute, the visitors had a rare attack on goal when good build up play by the midfield found James Washburn with the ball, his effort was marginally wide. Two minutes later, the home side broke the deadlock, when Elliott Crawford’s free kick far out on the right was met by Ryan Smith to fire home from close range. Two minutes after the hour mark, the home side doubled their lead when Ryan Richards’ free kick from 30 yards, he sublimely curled the ball in off the post, giving the visiting ‘keeper no chance.

Then on the 65th minute, the hosts extended their lead further. Ryan Smith put a great ball into the area to find Ryan Richards to calmly slot the ball past Dudley. With ten minutes remaining of the match, Louis Wilson for the visitors had a free kick from 25 yards which is well collect by home ‘keeper Jack Dixon, and a couple minutes later, the visitors had another counterattack. Will Dawe cut into the area dribbling the ball past two home defenders, his effort from 15 yards was tipped over the crossbar by Dixon. In the final minute of normal playing time, The Point scored their fourth goal of the game. Ryan Richards fired home from 12 yards putting the ball through the ‘keepers legs for his hat-trick.
